Coach Ike graduated from Liverpool High School in 1979. While a member of the Warrior and Liverpool Jet swim programs, she participated in breaststroke and freestyle events. During her senior year, she held 8 school records, 6 sectional records, 3 state records, 2 top 10 national rankings and All- American status. At Empire State Games she won a total of 18 medals (11 gold) in four Games.
Kara attended the University of Wyoming on a full swimming scholarship, where she won numerous events at the Conference level, held many school records, and qualified for Division I Nationals. After graduating with a B.S. in Home Economics Education, she worked as an assistant coach at UW for one year, did a summer internship with former Olympic swim coach Don Gambril in Tuscaloosa,
Alabama, and spent 2 years as head swim coach for the North Little Rock YMCA. Upon returning to Liverpool in 1987, she was head age group coach for the Liverpool Jets for 2 years, boy’s junior varsity coach for 3 years and modified girl’s and boy’s
coach for 6 years.
She has a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Wyoming and is a Family Consumer Science teacher at Liverpool Middle School. Her husband, Jim, was a former swimmer and water polo player and they have 3 children, Lander, Logan and Lachlan. In her free time she enjoys reading, gardening, working out, and backpacking out West.
Coach Mac is a 1979 graduate of Liverpool High School. During his high school diving career at Liverpool the team achieved 3 NY State Championships, 4 Sectional Championships and in 1979 was the Eastern United States Championship team. Coach Mac was the 1978 Onondaga HS League diving champion. Ken began coaching diving at Liverpool in 1994. He has worked with former Olympic diving coach Ron O'Brien and at Liverpool has coached numerous Section III and NY State finalists, including a first and second team All-American.
In 2003 Ken was appointed as the Regional Director for the Central Region of the Empire State Games after serving as regional diving coach since 1997. He received his BS degree in marketing from Syracuse University in 1983 and his MBA from Syracuse in 1991. He is a financial advisor with the Legend Group and is owner of Ken McInerney's Tax Service. For many years, Ken was an Emergency Medical Technician with Moyers Corners Fire Dept. and was a long time Red Cross CPR instructor. He has traveled to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and Central America. He enjoys boating and spending time at his cottage on Sandy Pond.
